Teashop

World of Tea in Engel's Tuin

To share our love for tea, we have created a small shop alongside the teahouse, where you can buy most of the teas we serve.

Our collection is not large, but it is carefully curated. We have something beautiful for everyone: from beginners to true tea enthusiasts, from coffee drinkers who “want to try something different” to lovers of herbal tea. You will also find a small selection of teaware, and we are slowly expanding our collection.

For our tea shop, we intentionally chose tea houses that we know and trust personally, and that are known for their excellent quality, deep tea experience, and respect for craftsmanship. Their quality goes hand in hand with an open, accessible view of the tea world, making discovery feel effortless.

Our tea collection is created in collaboration with three special tea houses:

Moychay (Amsterdam)

Moychay is known for its deep roots in traditional tea culture and its strong focus on authenticity. The company works directly with small farmers and artisanal producers in China, Taiwan, and Japan. Their teas are personally sourced on location, often during annual harvest trips, ensuring freshness, traceability, and honest quality. Moychay is also appreciated for its handmade teaware and its dedication to sharing tea knowledge.

We have known Moychay the longest. When they established themselves in the Netherlands, it felt like a relief: finally a wide, high-quality selection of teas within reach. We now consider them friends. We attended several tastings led by founder Sergey Shevelev, who is known for his vast knowledge, humour, and accessibility. Sergey brings traditional tea culture closer to people in an open and clear way, without mystique or heaviness. He also hosted a tea session with us at Engel’s Tuin, and we look forward to organising more gatherings with him in the future.

Mei Leaf (London)

Mei Leaf, based in London and led by Don Mei, is dedicated to making high-quality tea exciting and accessible. They focus on pure, transparent sourcing and select teas that clearly express terroir and craftsmanship. Mei Leaf is especially known for its detailed tasting notes, educational content, and innovative blends that still respect traditional production methods.

We discovered Mei Leaf through their inspiring YouTube videos. Don Mei is one of the most passionate tea lovers we know: energetic, curious, and deeply attentive to detail. His explanations about terroir, processing, and flavour have taught us a great deal about the nuances of tea. Over the years, we have regularly ordered and enjoyed their teas. During a visit to their teahouse in London, we also had the chance to take part in a tea session with Don himself, and we greatly appreciated his energy and way of sharing. Mei Leaf is a wonderful choice for anyone seeking depth and transparency.

Palais Des Thes (Paris)

Palais des Thés is a French tea house founded in 1986 by François-Xavier Delmas. They are known for elegant, accessible teas and their long-standing relationships with tea producers around the world. Their assortment combines classic single-origin teas with refined, modern blends and herbal infusions, loved by both beginners and experienced tea drinkers.

We discovered Palais des Thés during our travels through Belgium and France. What we especially appreciate — and confidently offer in our shop — are their herbal teas and refined blends. Their fruit and herbal infusions are created with French precision: elegant, subtle, often organic, and always harmonious.
